Dear Calder,

In our official letter of todays date we are

sending to the Colonial Office a copy of a despatch

from the Acting British Consul General at Shanghai

regarding the registration of the births of the

children of Ali Gulab Mallek.

The covering despatch gives the father's name

as Mohammed Ali Mallek. This is obviously a clerical

error, however, since the statutory declarations and

marriage certificate enclosed in the despatch describe

him as Ali Gulab.
